PC System Requirements

The game will require only moderately modern hardware only to run smoothly upon release. To reach recommended requirement we expect the game will need a Core i5 9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X for a processor and your graphics card needs to be at least an Nvidia GTX 1060 Ti or AMD RX 590. However, to run the game on windows, you will need at least 8GB of RAM, system memory while 16 is recommended. Given how most modern AAA titles are 50 GB plus, we recommend gamers to invest a larger hard drive. Even this title demands 80 GB of free space, and this size will only keep increasing to accommodate high-quality textures and more.

Raytracing

Even without raytracing, the visuals from F1 2021 are a notch better, and RT brings a sense of more photorealism. In F1 2021, Codemasters goes a step further and implements ray tracing reflections and shadows for the first time. Both RT effects affect the bolides and affect the entire scenery and are visible even at a great distance. Ray-traced shadows will undoubtedly help F1 2021 las they ook more realistic, however as we have learned, create a hit in performance. You might want to leave it disabled and go with standard rasterized shadows as let's be honest, they're pretty darn good as well.

DLSS 2.2.9 (NVIDIA)

Nvidia's AI upsampling DLSS was already introduced in the F1 2020 version in the form of a patch. F1 2021 offers this for Geforce RTX graphics cards straight away, of course. According to the supplied nvngx_dlss.dll, The EGO engine utilizes the latest DLSS 2.2.9.0 revision, which achieves really good results and smear-free results for F1 2021. During our races, DLSS made no graphical anomalies that we could notice.

There is one side note to be made, we cannot detect a mode DLSS selection in F1 2021, but we can only assume that DLSS Quality (Q) is used given what we're not seeing. We'll show you some videos later on in the article.

FidelityFX Super Resolution (AMD)

The new FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) and thus the technology that competes with DLSS are not available. There is an FX Upscaler and sharpener available, we tried the upscaler and it just looked dreadful. We've left it disabled.

The game will introduce a story mode called Braking Point. According to a statement by Codemasters, Braking Point "immerses players into the glamorous world of Formula One, giving a taste of the lifestyle both on and off the track: the rivalries, emotion, and dedication needed to compete at the highest level." This story mode is set across three seasons: 2019 in Formula 2, 2020 in Formula One, and 2021 in Formula One as well. Braking Point is also based on the Netflix docu-series Formula 1: Drive to Survive. There are five selectable teams in Braking Point: Racing Point (later Aston Martin), Scuderia AlphaTauri, Alfa Romeo Racing, Haas, and Williams. The player will assume the role of Aiden Jackson, a rising British F2 star who is ascending the ranks in the hope of becoming a Formula One champion. While he does put up a good front for the cameras, outside the track, he is struggling in the transition to Formula One, competing against the best drivers in the world. Also in the story mode is Dutch veteran driver Casper Akkerman, who will serve as Jackson's teammate. As a veteran Formula One driver (sharing some characteristics and traits from Kimi Räikkönen), he is more mature and experienced than Jackson. However, with a wave of a new generation of drivers bursting onto the F1 scene, Akkerman is struggling to stay competitive in the twilight of his career. In the 2021 season portion of the story, the player will take control of Akkerman. He is married to Zoe Akkerman, who is the mother of a daughter named Lily. Zoe is aware of the sacrifices her husband makes to stay competitive. Devon Butler, a character from F1 2019 during the three-race scenario, called the F2 Feeder Series, is also set to return as Jackson's rival. Whichever team the player chooses, the character Brian Doyle is featured in the story. Doyle serves as a direct liaison to the team principal, be it Otmar Szafnauer (Racing Point-Aston Martin), Franz Tost (Scuderia AlphaTauri), Frédéric Vasseur (Alfa Romeo), Guenther Steiner (Haas), and Jost Capito (Williams).
