eVGA x58 SLI Classified review - Introduction

Tweet eVGA X58 3X SLI Classified motherboard review

Product: EVGA X58 SLI Classified
Manufacturer: EVGA
Part number: 141-BL-E759-A1
Information: EVGA
Street price: $449

A couple of months ago eVGA released their X58 SLI motherboard in the high-end market to address the release of the lovely Core i7 processors. X58 (currently) is the the only Intel chipset available for Core i7, so armed with the idea to bring SLI compatibility to the platform and the ability to create something new and special, their X58 SLI motherboard was well received by many reviewers including me. I believe I called that product a diamond in the rough, as in the early release days it needed a BIOS update or two to slowly ripen .. like fine wine.

eVGA would not be themselves though if they did not take it a step further. Armed at the really enthusiast end-users, they wanted to create something so special and exclusive that it would bring shock and awe in the retail channel. As such they started developing a product that now has been called the X58 SLI Classified. More features, more design and aesthetics that make you scratch that head of yours.

Very few products make it into 'that next level', but eVGA accomplished that with the X58 Classified. So have a peek at the motherboard, be amazed and then head on over to the next page where we'll talk a bit about the X58 chipset and then talk you all the way though eVGA's offering.

And please switch your mind to hardcore tweaking before entering, next page please.

EVGA X58 SLI review
Today we'll test the fifth X58 motherboard in a row. This time from the folks at eVGA. They recently released their eVGA X58 SLI motherboard loaded with features. Tagged with a 299 USD sales price this motherboard seem to be very impressive. But since it's eVGA, they decided that this motherboard should be all about overclocking, and nothing else. We'll cover the motherboard from A to Z, and to spice it up a little I'll slap on some water-cooling and overclock our processor towards 4.2 GHz, stable.
