The Graphics and Sound
The graphics of this game is a mix of awesome scenery and some disappointing details. The ground textures, trees look really dull. It looks like they have used some low resolution textures. On the other hand the enemies, tanks, weapons, reflection on the windshield of the helicopter... is awesome. The scenery from the sky is breathtaking. The water effects are nice from the sky. That dull looking ground looks awesome from the sky.

That is coupled with pretty detailed buildings. There are maps with pretty dense fog and it looks awesome. It's not something we haven't seen before but the whole environment feels real. The lightning effects are very good. Colour of the sky, ripples in the water are detailed and beautifully rendered. Vehicles are detailed and accurate. Every small detail is paid attention to. This is simply a stunning game graphically. They don't feel out of proportion. In intense firefights the bullets and rockets flying all over, artillery shelling looks stunning. The game physics is ok. You feel bumps when you go through a ditch or over the rock. Tanks feel heavy while you are driving it.

As far as sound goes the sound effects are perfect. The sound of bomb shells, pistols, aircrafts, helicopters all feel realistic. There is nothing much to tell. On 5.1 setup the sound effects were great and so was sound positioning. So it seems all rosy isn't it? Well not exactly. There are some performance issues with this game. The game has a serious memory leak on some systems. I personally experienced peak memory usage of a whopping 1.4GB (Ed: And people say we're crazy using 2 GB of RAM). This results in lots of stuttering when a new game starts or you go into an area of the map for the first time as lots of hard disk swapping takes place. This badly affects the online gameplay experience many times. There is a simple solution for this. Play that particular map offline for 5 minutes before going online. Even then the game is very hard on the system if you want all eye candy turned on. It ran pretty well with everything set to high and 4xAA on 6800GT. But on a 6600GT some eye candy needed to be turned down. Also a good CPU is necessary. CPU overclock seems to help the game. This technical complication aside the game is a treat for your eyes.
