Mounting the cooler is a relatively easy thing to do, but for the avid end-user might be tricky. Above, the kit we'll install today, first we need to pad the backside of the motherboard for a backplate.

EK improved the installation as the CPU retention clip doesn't need to be removed anymore. Let's go and install it step-by-step. First, at the backside we position the rubber padding, for socket LGA 105x you need to remove the middle part of the pad and then align it with the holes.

Once done, we position the retention plate on top of it. Keep the three socket screws in sight and line them up with the bracket.

Small tip, see the M4 screws, the ones with the two stripes are for socket LGA 2011/2066, the ones without the two stripes can be used for Intel LGA-1150/1151/1155/1156 and AMD AM4.

Take your time here and take it slow, this is the most tricky part; we now take a washer and the standoff screws and mount them at the frontside to the back-plate bracket we just positioned. Tighten the four standoff screws shut and secure.

Yep you are half way there already. The installation is a breeze, a very simple process. Basically we can now seat the CPU block.
