Final Words & Conclusion

Conclusion

The reviewed air cooler performed well and handled both tested processors, including the Core i9 9900K at 5 GHz (but it barely coped when we went above the strictly required voltage level). The 140 mm fan is relatively quiet. At maximum rpm (1200), the cooler still isn’t very loud. It’s possible to set an even less noisy fan curve – silence is always desired, especially if your CPU is not a high-end model.

Aesthetics & Design

Starting with the aesthetics, the AS500 looks very nice and sleek. The LEDs are placed only on the heatsink’s top cover, and that’s a good-looking solution (although I bet some users would like to have an RGB fan as well). The wiring looks reasonable and there are not too many cables, so it was rather easy to manage it all properly. Installation is not time-consuming, and it’s rather easy, so most (or all?) users should manage without any problems. As for the AMD system, it was easy as well, and you don’t even need to switch the backplate. We also appreciate the bundled RGB controller for the lighting, which comes in handy if your motherboard doesn’t have any RGB headers.

The Verdict

The Deepcool AS500 costs 59 USD. We think that it’s a very reasonable offer, and it’s well worth the money. If you are looking for an air cooler with lots of RGB functionality, you might want to consider the Deepcool AS500. The performance is really nice and the noise levels are more than good. The AS500’s design with the RGB lighting on the top cover does look good. There’s an option to control it with your motherboard or the dedicated and bundled controller. The Deepcool AS500 has very good RAM compatibility because the radiator is just 49 mm thick and doesn't even touch the memory area on the motherboard. Overall, the size of the cooler is very reasonable, but it still weighs over 1 kg in total (that’s massive). The AS500 deserves our “Approved” award because of the nice size/performance/price ratio and a bit of RGB lighting, which is usually welcome (and you can always switch it off if it’s not, right?).
