If you already had bought the game and have a decent DX11 class graphics card, then by all means give the new updates a try. The performance hit is extensive but not as bad as I expected. In return you receive a heck of a lot more eye-candy whether that is to be found in shadows, textures, tessellation or post processing effects like depth of field, the game just looks a notch better alright.

The 1.9 Patch, DX11 and HQ Texture upgrade is totally free so why not ? You can download it here.

We hope you liked this little soirée of tests which will be an indicator of overall performance. Make no mistake, this upgrade makes your GPU(s) sweat, but Crysis 2 has become amongst the best looking games anno 2011, and though late to market with these patches, it is a much welcomed upgrade.

We just hope that you did not finish the game back in March already.
