Creative Labs Gigaworks S750 7.1 Challel speaker set7.1 channels of surround sound people, that's where we are today. Now, if you asked me a year ago whether the average X or Y chromosome based individual could hear the actual difference between 5.1 and 7.1 I would have said no. But you see, a day after our review on Creative Lab's Audigy 4 Pro review they, Creative Labs, contacted us and asked us if we wanted to review their high-end 7.1 speaker series to complement that soundcard.

Skeptic at first, is what I was, because the actual speaker set that we are testing today has already been on the market for roughly a year and a half and could be considered a little dated. Today's product my friends are the THX certified (Lucas Film tested and approved) high-end series speakers from Creative Labs, the 7.1 surround sound Gigaworks S750. The latest Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES standards will finally get the attention they deserve in your PC room or even small living room.

Story time: so it's Wednesday, a courier stops in front of our building. A thin blonde girl walk out (yes it catches the eye you know). So I notice this big box that says Creative. She picks it up and almost hurt her little back there. Considering she was a little thin I walk over there and asked if I could help her by carrying the box. I pick up the box and nearly threw out my back as well. As I always say, if a product is really heavy, it's most likely quality... or you are getting screwed over with bricks in the package!

Right then, after a little weight-lifting (I'm guessing the package weighed 30 kilograms easily) I notice these are in fact the top of the line Gigaworks S750 7.1 speakers from Creative Labs.

So 7.1 surround sound, do we really need to invest in it ? Ehm, no. But I can tell you it does make a very nice difference over the traditional 5.1 setup for sure. I'll explain all that on this multi-purpose speaker set later on when I will talk a little about my game/movie/music experiences in combination with the GigaWorks S750's.

First let's have a look at the specifications, some photo's and then we'll get to the experiences and my verdict.

Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro
In December something big was released by Creative labs. And the fun thing is .. almost all of you missed it didn't you? Really silently Creative Labs pushed forward a new soundcard under the label Audigy 4 You'd expect a big marketing campaign with bells and whistles and preferably gorgeous blonde women jumping up and down with the soundcard ... but that did not happen.
