Practical part - impressions

When it comes to testing a chair, one might encounter certain challenges that require time and patience to overcome. The best way to gauge a chair's comfort and durability is to spend a significant amount of time sitting in it. This may involve performing a variety of activities such as typing on a computer, browsing the internet, answering emails, watching movies or TV series, and engaging in recreational activities such as gaming. As someone who works as an accountant and spends a considerable amount of time sitting, I took it upon myself to test a particular chair for a duration of three weeks. This duration of time allowed me to form a relevant and well-informed opinion on the chair's overall performance and suitability for extended use.

The appellation of "Terminator" inherently implies an exoskeleton construct, wherein the majority of its structural constituents are fabricated from a composite of resilient metals and fiber-reinforced plastics.

This chair is suitable for a player's room but may not be ideal for an office, unless it's a home office. One of the most striking features of the chair is the spine design at the back. The chair also features subtle orange accents, which are not too obtrusive, aside from the logos or name. The "Hyper-Dura leatherette" material used for the chair feels quite breathable, especially in warmer conditions. While I have not had the opportunity to test it during the summer, the polyamide mesh should allow for the dissipation of body heat, especially where it tends to concentrate. The material looks and behaves like soft leather but is highly durable, boasting 12 times the wear and tear resistance of traditional coverings.

The base of the chair comprises thick metal legs and the same fiber-reinforced plastic as the rest of the chair, ensuring stability and durability. The headrest is fully adjustable, making it suitable for individuals of different heights. It's well-profiled and offers adequate support for sensitive areas. The chair's large and wide backrest also means that even individuals with a larger build will sit comfortably, without feeling squeezed or pressured. Finally, don't forget to note the subtle Cougar logo on a plaque at the backrest, a little further down.

I didn’t have the chance to check the temperatures during the summer, but the polyamide mesh should allow the dissipation of the body heat where it’s most concentrated. It's possible to cover it, using the provided part.

The neck pillow is made of a material. If we start at the top, specifically the neck/headrest area, we find the Cougar logo embossed into the PU leather surface. The surface is very good in quality, and it’s also nice to touch.

The large and wide backrest also means that even more prominent persons will sit correctly, without some squeezing/pressure feeling. It is stable (steel frame), well-profiled, and provides adequate support for sensitive places. The headrest only tilts; it's not possible to adjust it vertically.

Let’s move on to the armrests. The armrests are large and set wide apart. Several metal parts have been used, rather than plastic, which we usually would see. The surface of the armrest is soft and comfortable. The armrests consist of a dense, smooth foam that offers superior support. There are plenty of adjustment options (it’s a 4D): they move up/down, slide in/out, and back/forth. It’s also possible to unbolt and remove them if you prefer.

There’s also an additional lumbar pillow (made of the same material as the neck pillow), but I don’t see any actual use.

Moving on to the next feature of this remarkable piece of furniture, let's take a closer look at the backrest. With a height of 83.5 centimeters, this backrest offers excellent support and comfort to anyone using this chair. Furthermore, the seat of the chair is generously sized at 50 centimeters in width and 59.5 centimeters in depth, allowing for a comfortable and relaxing seating experience.

What's even better is that this backrest is adjustable, allowing you to sit upright or lean back, depending on your preference. All you need to do is use the small metal lever located on the right side of the chair. This lever allows you to switch from an upright position to an almost-horizontal one with ease. To adjust the backrest, all you have to do is pull the lever up and lean forward or backward, and the backrest will adjust accordingly.

Additionally, this chair is equipped with a class 4 gas lift mechanism, which is located on the underside of the chair. This gas lift mechanism allows you to adjust the chair's height by 8 centimeters, making it easy to find the perfect height for your workspace or seating arrangement.

Let’s get to the bottom. At the wheelbase of the chair (a 5-arm aluminum base guarantees the stability of the whole unit), we find five durable Ø 76 mm wheels (but they could have been rubber, not plastic). Overall, the chair supports a maximum weight of 135 kg and indicates the high build quality of the Cougar Terminator.

As for the last feelings about the Cougar Terminator - the filling is quite hard, but I got used to it quickly. It’s good that there are some metal pieces (not plastic), like buttons on the armrests. It can build confidence in this product’s durability. It has been a good experience to use this chair daily. There’s quite a lot of space, even for a tall guy (I’m 202 cm), but it could have been a bit bigger overall (like more extended armrests) to fit me even better. There’s some creaking hearable occasionally, but that’s a relatively rare experience and probably could have been eliminated by lubricating the mechanism (if it comes from that source).
