Cougar Minos X5 and the Revenger S Mouse Review - Conclusion

Final Words

Cougar has made two great mouses, the Minos X5 and Revenger S. Build quality is excellent, as is the hardware, and you can’t go wrong with either mouse in terms of performance. Many thanks to Cougar for sending these in for review. When choosing a mouse, ergonomics really is the most important. There’s no perfect mouse, but for my hand and grip, the Minos X5 was the easiest choice I’ve had to make in a very long time. In fact, I liked it so much, I bought a second one to use at the office. While I liked the Revenger S for its more natural hand position, it is just a touch too large for my hybrid palm grip style, and caused a little fatigue after a full day of gaming. The Minos X5, on the other hand, fit perfectly and didn’t cause any strain after many hours of use.

Gaming with the Minos X5 and Revenger S I didn’t feel like I was using a mouse, but rather an extension of my arm. They’re both under 100g in weight and combined with the slippery feet, the only thing that told you that they were there were the LED lights. Performance was solid, and even with quick flicks, or side slams, I was not able to upset their tracking, which is excellent. Rated for 50 million clicks, it will be years before I wear the switches out.

Final Words

There were just a few issues, mainly with the UIX software. While it didn’t crash outright, the UIX would occasionally stop communicating with the mouse. Restarting the UIX fixed that, but still an issue. I also found that with certain Lenovo laptops and a few Dell monitor USB hubs, the Minos X5 would disconnect, or not power on after waking from sleep. I doubt it’s the mouse, but replugging brought it back to life, as expected. On my home gaming machine, however, both the Minos X5 and Revenger S were solid. For the price, the Revenger S and Minos X5 are no-brainers. If it fits your hand, their performance is excellent, and so is the build quality. I had no issues with rattling or creaks, just solid mouses - Highly recommended.
