Xeneon 27QHD240 review - 240Hz 1440p OLED monitor
Corsair Expands Into Gaming Monitor Market with Xeneon 27QHD240: A Review

In this review, we take a closer look at the Corsair Xeneon 27QHD240, a gaming display specifically designed to deliver a smooth gaming experience at 240 Hz based on an OLED panel. Known for its power supplies and memory modules, Corsair has expanded its product range into gaming peripherals, including monitors. Among their recent introductions is the Xeneon 27QHD240. Incorporating an LG Display panel, the monitor offers similar fundamental characteristics as competing products while integrating Corsair's unique touch. With its 27-inch screen size and 1440p resolution, this monitor offers a high-quality visual experience. The highlight of the display is its high refresh rate, which ensures fluid motion and responsiveness during gameplay. The Corsair Xeneon 27QHD240 incorporates OLED technology, providing exceptional color accuracy and vibrant visuals. The monitor also features adaptive sync technologies like G-SYNC and FreeSync, which contribute to tear-free and stutter-free gaming sessions. These sync features work seamlessly with compatible graphics cards to synchronize the display's refresh rate with the GPU's output, resulting in smooth and tear-free gameplay. In terms of specifications, the Corsair Xeneon 27QHD240 offers a brightness level of 450 cd/m2 (with a peak brightness of 1000 cd/m2, 3% peak). The display also boasts a wide color gamut of 98.5% DCI-P3, ensuring rich and vibrant colors for a more immersive gaming experience. The Xeneon 27QHD240 presents a clean QHD resolution, enabling 240 frames per second and a swift 0.03 millisecond response time.

The Xeneon 27QHD240 includes a USB-C input delivering 65 watts of power. It also features two HDMI 2.1 ports, offering authentic HDMI 2.1 support, an attribute not explicitly mentioned in Corsair's specs. Additionally, the monitor is powered by a robust 180-watt power adapter, a significant capacity compared to the screen's stated power consumption of <35 watts.

Corsair offers a three-year warranty for the Xeneon 27QHD240 monitor. This warranty also covers incidents of burn-in and dead pixels. Should the display showcase a bright pixel or an excess of six dark pixels, Corsair commits to replacing the monitor, treating it as they would a case of image burn-in. As a protective measure against burn-in, the Xeneon 27QHD240 model integrates specific anti-burn strategies. These include the "Image Retention Refresh" and "Orbit Refresh." The "Image Retention Refresh" technique is prevalent in OLED televisions that rejuvenates the pixels when the display is turned off. This process is automatically activated when the display is switched off after eight consecutive hours of use, signified by a flashing status LED on the monitor. The screen remains dark during this procedure. The display should not be interrupted abruptly after turning it off to ensure the process completes successfully, much like TVs. This procedure can also be manually activated via the OSD (On-Screen Display).

Priced at 1299 euros (street price is 1150 euros atm), the Xeneon 27QHD240 aligns with the cost of the Asus PG27AQDM. Despite the absence of HDMI 2.1 and USB-C, the Corsair monitor exhibits a unique, gaming-centric design. Consumers have an expanded array of choices, as the monitor is available for purchase, albeit possibly limited to certain retailers.
