SSD Operating Temperatures
Temperature Measurements
During our test benchmarks stress tests with a high-stress workload, we monitor the SSD temperature. The unit idles at roughly 35~40 Degrees C, the peak stress temperature measured hovers at roughly 55 Degrees C on the controller but that is cooled by the chipset heatsink. So yeah, a motherboard m.2. heatsink cooling is recommended to prevent thermal throttling (a hot state where the controller will slow down in order to manage and lower heat levels). NVMe SSDs ate these performance levels require cooling, plain and simple.
