Testing the mouse

Reviewing a mouse is a bit tricky (almost like with audio devices). My daily mouse is a Logitech G902 (which is wireless), and that’s my benchmark, and you also need to remember that I have very big palms. That said, I liked the experience with the M55 RGB PRO a lot. It is really light (86g), but still quite massive (very similar in size to the G902), so it’s good enough for my hands, and should be satisfying for most users. The design is very good here. The chassis is made of plastic, but I couldn't make the mouse squeak, creak, or rattle during normal use.

The polling rate is another aspect of the mouse that we decided to check. During typical use, we did not notice any problems with data transmission consistency. Still, performing the quickest shifts reveals small drops in the number of reports, the average measurement of which indicated about 960 Hz in our case.

This difference, however, is not felt in practice, and we can’t say that it’s a significant disadvantage. We should mention that the sensor is able to work with a maximum, non-interpolated resolution of 6200 DPI, and any higher values are achieved only with the use of software support. The acceleration test is the most important step in checking the mouse and, we did not find even the smallest manifestation of this issue in the M55 RGB Pro. This is great news for all players.

For gaming tests, I’ve used:

  • PUBG,
  • Battlefield 1,
  • DOTA 2
  • Call of Duty: WW2

These games require not only patience but also the precision of movement. The Corsair M55 RGB PRO did an excellent job here. Movements register as they should, and they are sharp and expressive. We did not encounter any undesirable phenomena (such as the pointer moving by itself) in the tests or when gaming. In FPS games, I was able to quickly get used to the M55’s shape and weight (which is very low - 86 g), with this nimble mouse happy to be thrown around for both flick-shots and controlled movement. Roaming around the map was smooth, and locking my crosshairs onto enemy soldiers was easy. DOTA 2, with its quick skirmishes and reliance on using numerous skills and objects, is ideal for checking the additional functions of the mouse, such as extra buttons and macros. DPI selection works nice, but is not very fast, as you have to cycle through all the modes step by step. You have just one button to switch the DPI up and down, which makes the process longer. The mouse is very responsive and does the things you “order” it to. It’s a good one, especially considering the price range.

The rubberized side grip area makes the mouse more comfortable to use. The top of the mouse’s shell is quite pleasant to the touch and provides a lot of grip even with slightly moist hands. The buttons are positioned correctly (the two right-hand side ones are a very nice addition), and the placement is not strenuous for the palm.
