We’ve received the K70 RGB Pro with CORSAIR Cherry MX RGB Brown key switches. Red switches work great for typing, but it’s not bad for gaming sessions either. An actuation force of  55 cN is required for the pre-travel of 2.0 millimeters. The overall travel distance is four millimeters.

Precision is one reason people buy mechanical keyboards, and there’s absolutely no shortage of it here. We have tested the K70 RGB Pro over many hours of typing and gaming. In games like Starcraft 2, PUBG, Battlefield 1, Call of Duty: WW2, or even DiRT: Rally, the keyboard responded to my actions very quickly and exceptionally accurately. The tournament switch disables any macro keys you may have configured, plus it turns off the windows key and sets the RGB to a static red color – which can be an excellent feature for professional players. The switches themselves are quiet, the activation mechanism is almost inaudible, although the other elements of the structure generate a lot of noise as the PBT covers themselves. The rattling-like noise is rather loud and can be irritating during daily usage. There is also a specific reverberation, probably emitted by the aluminum body, which you can hear after stopping hitting the keys.

The keyboard passed the N-Key rollover test without any hiccups. I didn’t get any missed keystrokes when typing, either. The anti-ghosting technology serves its purpose great. K70 features a polling rate of 8,000Hz, but it’s unnoticeable in daily usage. The AXON technology provides a keyscan rate of 4000Hz, allowing the board to detect keystrokes up to four times faster than other gaming keyboards. But again, the difference wasn’t noticeable to me. The ergonomics are excellent overall, and the thing that makes it even more comfortable is a palm rest (and it’s attachable), but I prefer the leatherette versions. It’s also great that there are media keys and a volume roller. As for the lighting, it’s really vivid and visible and not annoying in the dark (you can disable it or bring it down a notch); all special characters are as clearly visible as full-size letters and numbers.

In the case of white, there were faint/barely visible pink highlights – which shouldn’t appear. Unfortunately, there’s no USB pass-through, but I can live with that.
