Corsair iCUE Software/Dolby Atmos

iCUE software has been available on the market for some time. This year the v4 has been introduced, making it more user-friendly. Overall, the control panel has a minimalist feel, and I like that more than the previous software revision. The software displays connected Corsair devices in the top section of the interface.

The HS80 RGB WIRELESS shows up without any issues. It is easy to switch between devices by simply clicking them. In the device settings, you can change the:

  • lighting effects,
  • equalizer
  • and change the settings like voice prompts, allow auto-shutoff (after a certain time), check the battery status, and update the firmware.

If you choose the HS80 RGB WIRELESS, the interface pops up as part of the same window. Five default pre-sets available. A single click of the mouse is all it takes to switch to one of them. The available EQ control is more than enough for me, and I think it’ll be the same for most users. You can download and try the new iCUE software here.

One of the HS80 RGB Wireless selling points is the Windows Dolby Atmos spatial audio feature (Windows 10 only). To use it on your PC, you need to go to Microsoft Store and download the free “Dolby access” app.

Once done, it gets fully licensed and activate automatically by and with a Corsair license.

After connecting the device (The software detects the headset immediately), you can check the videos’ samples to see how this technology affects the sound. You can check what games/hardware is compatible with this website.

There’s a possibility to select or customize pre-sets too. For my liking – the Dolby Atmos sounded slightly better than the default one. Of course, it’s a subjective feeling, but you’ve got a choice.
