Final words and conclusion

Final Words & Conclusion

At a price of just over 80 bucks, I think Corsair offers a nice product that can compete with the more enthusiast class heat pipe coolers. You get the benefit of good looks, nice cooling capacity and if you keep things reasonable tweaking wise, a silent enough LCS unit for what it needs to be.

Performance

The cooling performance really remains very reasonable, it remains to be just that. Our 95W Core i7 4790K is simply put a nasty processor to cool. In a default setup (clocks) the performance is fine. However you are at Guru3D.com and we know you will tweak your PC 5 minutes after you assembled it - so we added 1.30 Volts the temps remained to hover at 75 Degrees C. At 1.35 Volts reach 78 degrees C (!). And once we fire off 1.40 Volts at this processor we reach 83 Degrees C. For short bursts of stress, I could be fine with 1.35 Volts. So from the cooling perspective, it's all very seems and feels reasonable.

Acoustics

Noise is something we have discussed, as there hardly is any, at defaults. With one 120mm fan, Corsair is able to make this product silent when the CPU is not tweaked. The fans don't resonate either. The pump we could hear a tiny bit, however often after a  few days that settled and becomes silent.  So at the processor at defaults is silent. However, once we added 1.30 Volts to the CPU, here we reached 35 DBa (under CPU load wPrime 1024M). That is still silent. At 1.35 Volts on the CPU we reached 36 DBa and at 1.40 Volts it finally became noise as the fan RPM kicked in hard, we measured 42 DBa.

Aesthetics

Overall the looks are very tasteful as far as I am concerned, an all-black design with the subtle shades of grey make it an appealing product to the eyes. It is very easy to install with this mounting system, and factory filled with coolant in a closed loop. The black design will make this kit look great on any PC. It simply is a good alternative to heat-pipe coolers with the added benefits of being fairly quiet whilst offering very nice looks. No skills are required other than the need for ten minutes to install the kit. The white LED logo on the cooling block seems rather bright, this cannot be controlled.

Conclusion

The new 2018 model Corsair H60 LCS unit looks much better than the older model, that's for sure. You get improved looks, albeit the white LED we find rather bright. We cannot complain about the cooling performance, you'll have the room to tweak and overclock as this 12mm radiator has enough capacity for that. The good news is that it isn't noise when tweaked either. With our proc, even 1.35V on the CPU was very doable acoustics wise, and that is a huge plus. Installing the H60 is a breeze, it is a 10-minute job, the mounting kit is handy, easy to use and not at all complicated. The SATA power cable connector, however, could have been a bit longer. Overall, for almost 70~80 bucks you receive a nice looking product with plenty of oomph too cool and even tweak your processor whilst the acoustics remain at very acceptable levels. It's a very simple non-complicated kit, but that might actually be the appealing factor for it. Recommended, as this kit might actually offer pretty good 'drop in' value for money at a going price of €78,- and $69,- USD.
