Final Words & Conclusion

Decent is the word that comes to mind when I think about the Corsair GS800 PSU, now the product itself has been on the market for quite a while already. But this particular model is popular and mentioned by our readers quite often, we can see why. So I was happy to get it reviewed.

At a price of 129 USD / 110 EUR the product pricing seems a tad high, but look around a little as we have seen the 800W model as tested today for roughly 85~90 EUR already. For that kind of cash you receive a rather good product. Overall stability is fine. We noticed a tiny fluctuation but that was it really. The good thing is the single 12V rails, it has more then enough ampage to power two heavy duty graphics cards, so in that respect you are good to go.

Corsair GS800

Aesthetics matter, the GS800 looks good with its rounded curves and all black/blue design. The nice factor is of course the selectable LED lighting, which quite honestly is a great idea as you can match the color tone of your PC with it. It's always the simple stuff that matters.

Unfortunately the PSU is not modular, anno 2012 we do feel that modular designs are the way to go. It really doesn't hurt efficiency or anything when done right. So the GS800 is a great looking PSU, but you'll have a flurry of cables inside the PC. The cables themselves are nicely sleeved black and lengthy enough. So for the money Corsair simply offers a very decent power supply with the GS800 series. It might not be the most efficient model you can find on the market, but with Bronze certification, the PSU positions itself in the middle. So efficiency wise the product certainly is again decent.

With our PSU reviews we are always the first to state that our review remains somewhat subjective with our real-world test approach. Test methods wise we say our test is valid, as it is precisely the kind of load you guys would apply to a PSU like this. Scientifically, however the tests are a little less precise and we want to be very transparent about that fact.

When you purchase the PSU you'll receive a three year warranty on the product, that's pretty okay for a product in this price range.  So if you are in the market for an powerful and feature rich PSU that can be found fairly priced, well the GS800 might be a good offering for you.
