Final Words & Conclusion

The Verdict

Corsair offers a terrific chassis. This round though the aesthetics whilst good, do not appeal to me as much as the 760T did. Now that is a bit dangerous for a stement as I allow my personal preference to influence the conclusion a little. I do understand that taste differs per person, so it is pretty hard to remain objective when we talk about aesthetics. Other then that from the ground up this once again is pretty cewl stuff. The Graphite 780T is a peculiar looking product, but it definitely comes with everything you need and might expect from a chassis. It is a something new in design, that's for sure. Next to that is has great options and features. The chassis itself is well built, sturdy and tool-free to install.

Aesthetics

As stated above, I must admit that I like the design of the 760T better with that more square look and the dark see through window. However taste differs and the 780T certainly offers style that many will like. It has a big window, and opening up the panels to remove them is a breeze. It is black from the inside out. It's perfect for dark-colored high-end gear like motherboards and graphics cards and the side panel window will definitely show you all the goods you install combined with the lower compartment doors that can be removed and transformed into fan intakes. The design is tasteful, not overdone with logos and flickering LEDs. A much welcomed feature is of course the included fan controller which now offers three RPM settings. For those that do not like a black & white PC, you can also pick up an all black design, and we are fairly certain that a yellow and black version will become available at one point as well.

Features

Then there's the sheer amount of details and features that Corsair put into this chassis. The removable HDD/SDD trays, the many grommet holes with rubber inlays for managing your wiring, than spacious wire management options on the backside of the PC you can tuck your SSDs away. Then there are three 5.25" drive bays, a whopping six 3.5" bays and nine PCI expansion slots. Cooling capacity of this case is just not an issue and a nice detail is the dust filters and the easy to remove top panel cover. For the liquid cooling fanatics, they can fit multiple radiators in the chassis including a 360 mm radiator inside, without the need for any nasty modifications. This you don't see that often with mid-tower chassis.

Final Words

The Corsair Graphite 780T is a well designed and nice looking product. We do very much appreciate the the side panel slash window door, it is very easy to use for to quickly access the components inside your PC gaming rig. We would have liked to see a few more USB 3.0 connectors at the front side opposed to the two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 connectors that there are now. Admittedly I also do miss hot-swappable HDD bays these days, I mentioned this before and it is a feature I liked on the Obsidian 800D so much, wishful thinking I guess. Installing a 2.5" or 3.5" device is as simple as inserting it into a plastic rubber mounted bracket and sliding it into the drive bay. Optical or other 5.25" devices you simply slide in and secure and lock it into place. Cooling wise you'll get three silent 140 mm fans, which can all be adjusted (one setting for all) by the fan controller. Cable management then, again here's where Corsair continuously shines, cable routing is just not an issue as there are grommet holes inside the chassis allowing you to lead cables anywhere, very important, is that behind the motherboard tray is plenty of space for a lot of wires. So your choice whether or not to purchase, it will boil down to two things, taste and price as feature wise it has it all. Taste is subjective, but I think we can all agree that Corsair offers something special here. The second factor is price, it is not a cheap chassis.

The SRP is set at 179 USD, though in the EU we expect it to be 150 EURO, that is a bit steep. The guys that do like the curved design of the Graphite 780T will easily fall in love love this chassis for their next PC build. We might have a few small remarks here and there but overall what are we complaining about really ? It's nitpicking. I will grant it our hard to get "Top Pick" award, as this chassis should not be rated based on my personal taste in design. For those that really like the looks this will be an amazing chassis that offers all the functionality and features you may expect from a Corsair chassis. The Graphite 780T will become available this month for 179 USD in a white and a black edition initially.
