Final words and conclusion

The more mice I review, the more complicated these reviews get as choosing your mouse is something very personal. Some need fast action, others snipe and need slow action, aesthetics, lefties, righties, weight, leds, macros and yeah the list goes on and on. It's actually quite difficult to find just the right mouse. Take the brilliant SCIMITAR series for example, everybody likes it, but very few would get used to all the thumb buttons. The GLAIVE is more of a generic mouse in the sense that it'll be liked and can be used by many people. Much like any mouse you'll need to get used to it. But once you made your thumb rest selection it will merely take an hour or so before you realize how comfortable yet priice the mouse is and feels. Corsair did a nice job here as this thing is massively precise. 16K DPI, well that remains a topic of discussion, some feel it is important, others are fine with even a 6000 DPI mouse. We can tell you though that the PMW3367 optical sensor used is very impressive.

Any decent gaming mouse these days itself really is not an evolutionary upgrade or anything, the GLAIVE however offers a little extra TLC. The removeable magnetic thumb rests for example, the very strong yet agile Omron button switches, the RGB lighting, the tactile feel, the housing, the braided cable. Yeah it's all really good TBH. Corsair continuously wants to do things a little different and we are in agreement, these are fun additions alright.

 How good is it?

The overall feel of the mouse is good as well as it is comfortable, I also feel that people with slightly above average large hands will like the mouse really well as it is a hint bulky. No biggy if you have small hands, but it is something I noticed a couple of times. The hardware of the mouse is excellent, the design of the mouse is good and comfortable, and you get a mouse with mucho software options, enough buttons that are programmable, it has cool looks and even has an adjustable weight system. We did not experience lag or input issues. The mouse is connected with one USB cable, braided and is roughly a 2m cord. The mouse does not feel cheap and is simply downright comfortable to use. The buttons have a good feedback when pressed and also offer very good response. I also wanted to make a note on the CUE (Corsair Utility Engine) software. I have seen it evolve from average to really good, the state of the software as it is now. It is impressive to see, easy to work with and updated the mouse firmware all by itself. Hats off to the software team as that is a nice accomplishment.

Concluding

You can get gaming mice a dime a dozen in all colors, features and varieties. Yet somehow Corsair manages to always improve a little and that brings them the advantage of differentiation. The 16K DPI sensor might not seem that important, but it surely feels fantastic when gaming. I dunno, perhaps that is a subjective observation but I certainly seem to like it. Overall though Corsair once again has a mouse for you to purchase in the 70 Euros / 69 USD domain. And yeah, it is a pretty frickin nice mouse as well. You will need a bit of time (or at least I did) to get used to it. But after a few hours or maybe a day you'll learn to love the ergonomics, the balanced weight and the sheer fact that you have a fantastic looking mouse. And hey Corsair are the kings of RGB, so yes you have a fully configurable RGB LED mouse as well. The fun part there is that if you purchase a matching keyboard or headset, you can control it all from the one software suite. Which is very handy. The CUE software itself works great and has become something very respectable.  But hey, we are testing a gaming mouse and need to close there, gaming. The mouse is incredibly responsive and accurate. Next to that it is highly programmable and has a proper fit in my hands. For some, the mouse might feel a hint heavy but you'll get used to that fast enough. Whether you want to game an RTS, FPS or just need a mouse that can switch fast in-between a fast FPS mode and say a low DPI snipe mode, hey the GLAIVE can do it all.  The DPI selector on the mouse is based on a single button, and herein is my one quirk with the mouse to be found.  Example: once you reach your enemy and get into a shootout you'll quickly want to cycle to a lower DPI level so you can aim a little more accurately. Selection of the DPI works nice overall, but is not fast as normally you have two buttons to switch DPI modes up and down. The Glaive has just one button, so you need to cycle through all other DPI modes until you reach the right one. That is my one comment and quirk with the mouse. Two DPI selector buttons cycling up/down imho would have been nicer. And yeah, that's really all I can nag about. Expect the prices to hover at roughly 70 USD or Euros. For that money you receive a very complete and well designed gaming mouse with a now strong software suite that goes along with it. Definitely, and even highly recommended by Guru3D.com

Oh, and yes ...sword.  That's what Glaive stands for ;-)
