Product Showcase - Packaging

Traditionally, first up is the photo shoot of the packaging. The package is big and quite heavy. The design is Corsair standard approach, as it’s black print on a brown background. All the important features and specifications are listed on the box.

Corsair provided us with the first colour variant, with a tempered glass panel. The main advantages of this chassis are listed below:

  • Front 360/280mm fan mounts: with mounts for 3 x 120mm fans or 2 x 140mm fans, the front can support a 360, 280, or 240mm radiator in push/pull configuration.
  • Top 360/280mm fan mounts: the top cover can house 3 x 120mm or 2 x 140mm fans, with room for a 360mm/280mm radiator in push/pull configuration.
  • Bottom 120/140mm fan mounts: the bottom can house 2 x 120mm or 2 x 140mm fans, with room for a 240/280mm radiator.
  • Rear 120/140mm fan mounts: the back can house 1 x 120mm or 1 x 140mm fan, or radiators.
  • Up to 370mm clearance for GPUs, 170mm for CPU coolers, and 225mm for PSU
  • Sound damping material: included on the roof, right side panel, removable top panel, and front panel.
  • Hinged front and left-side door: tempered glass side hinged side door and hinged front door with sound damping material.
  • Three tool-free 2.5” SSD trays: easily add or remove 2.5” drives.
  • Six 3.5” tool-free drive trays: four floating trays and two in a cage underneath the PSU.
  • PWM repeater: control up to six PWM fan speeds from one header on the motherboard.
  • Removable top, front, and PSU dust filters: keep your system looking great long after your build is finished.
  • SP140 PWM fans (3x included): directs cool air to your PC’s hottest components.

The chassis is protected well, with Styrofoam (there’s even a piece to secure the tempered glass panel). There was no damage to the chassis, and the box served its purpose well.

The Carbide 678C has a very classic look. No RGB LEDs here (except the one at the top for indicating the power on status). The black version (there is also white one available) that was provided by Corsair makes a positive first impression. It’s a mid-sized chassis, measuring 549mm x 239mm x 497mm (L x W x H), with a total capacity of 65.2 l. In the accessory box (which is hidden inside the chassis), you will find a manual and also:

  • Screws
  • 10x Zip Tie

No additional accessories are included, like a logo badge, etc. that you'd expect in this budget (but that’s not really an issue). Let’s proceed to the evaluation of the exterior.
