Alrighty, here we have the all new Lynnfield processor package design based on Socket 1156. The size is not that much different from a Bloomfield (Core i7 920/950/975) processor.

Always good for a very nice photo, you are looking at a Lynnfield 45nm wafer... with a whole lotta Lynnfield dies.

We received engineering samples of the processors, so these cannot be considered the final SKUs. Q3AJ refers to the Core i7 870 processor and Q3AN, this is a Core i5 750 processor.

Socket LGA 1156 folks. The number always refers to the actual number of pins needed to connect the processor. If you count the dots on there you'd end up with 1156 pins. So... who has the time for a pin count? :)

Here we have the Core i7 870 seated in the motherboard we'll be testing with. Let's have a look at that motherboard actually.
