Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 1000W PSU review -
Introduction
Affordable power supplies, who doesn't like them huh? Cooler Master is introducing the all new Silent Pro M2 series power supplies. Feature rich and hopefully silent products rated at 420W up-to 1 Kilowatt models. The trick, it's an affordable PSU series, the downside... well we're still seeking. Surely the PSU series is not Platinum certified of course.
The Silent Pro M2 line of power supplies come with modular cabling, a 135mm hydraulic dynamic bearing fan, copper-aluminum heatsink, single +12V rail and dual-layer EMI filter.
We mentioned it in the first paragraph already, it will become available in 420W, 520W, 620W, 720W, 850W and 1000W models at the respective MSRPs of 79.90EUR, 89.90EUR, 99.90EUR, 114.90EUR, 149.90EUR, and 169.90EUR.
The 850W and 1000W versions are 80Plus Silver certified, while the other models stick to 80Plus Bronze. This is related to PSU efficiency, we'll explain that on the next page.
Today we focus on the Kilowatt model priced at... 169.90 EUR! A very nice power supply rated 80+ Silver, that comes with a modular design and one big massive whopping 12V rail, which we all like so very much. In fact, that translates to 80A / 12V on our 1000W model. Part of the new spec is RoHS and ERP 2010 Certification for more eco-friendly design and power efficiency. The 135mm fan has been improved by making use of a durable hydraulic dynamic bearing. This should increase overall fan lifespan and reduce noise.
Cooler Master also wanted a nicer design, and as such we'll see somewhat updated looks and style.
Carrying a 80+ Silver certification (88% efficiency at typical load), being modular and having good looks makes the Silent Pro M2 series an interesting product series to peek at.
Have a look at the product and head on over to the next page where we'll start up the review.
