Final words and verdict

With the HAF 922 available for 80 EUR / 90 USD in e-tail, Cooler Master brings a nicely sized smaller sister of the 932 to the market. Admittedly, we like the chassis very much, it's a well thought through design and concept. Also, and this is very difficult, the style and color scheme seems to fit this day and age really well. And sure, not everybody likes this design as taste differs per person, but overall I'd definitely rank the chassis very high.

Next tot the overall design we find the HAF 922 spacious enough to work in, even the biggest motherboards and lengthy graphics cards should not be a problem for installation.

The tiny intricate details make the product stand out from the rest, the easy access to the backside of the motherboard to the CPU cooler, the tool less insertion of 5.25" storage units and very though plastic, even the 3.5" HDD tray mounts work out really well in my opinion. These are also tool free to install and the HDDs are hanging in rubber mounts, preventing them from making too much noise / resonating.

The one remark we have is the motherboard tray opening for CPU backplates. We tried out socket 1156 (Core i5/i7) and there was too little clearance, as such the motherboard will 99% likely need to come out anyway if you need to install a backplate for a cooler. We tried the eVGA P55 Classified 200 in this chassis, and where unable to to manage the backplate swap. The gap really needs to be bigger in future models or revisions.

Airflow wise the one thing I could ask for is a ventilator at the left side just over the processor. But then again with the massive inclusion of quite silent fans throughout the chassis I do see that more as a wish rather than a necessity as airflow should just not be an issue with the HAF 922. guru3d-recommended_150px.jpgAnother wish would be that I'd like to have seen the innards of the chassis painted in black as well. But really, that's all I can think of. And that's where the article should be concluded.

Bottom line -- we like the HAF 922 very much and in it's genre it's just as respectable as the 932 version is, perhaps even a little better here and there. The Cooler Master HAD 922 be found for 80 EUR / 90 USD in e-tail at the time of writing this article, and we feel that is a fair price for a product that just makes a lot of sense. Definitely recommended.
