Specifications

Looks do deceive but a thing or two have been improved on revision II of this chassis series update.

For example, the motherboard tray comes with pretty improved cable-management, we really dig the bigger opening behind the CPU socket for easy cooler access on the motherboard tray. The CM 690 II Advanced comes with modular 3.5" HDD bays with a 2.5" and 1.8" HDD/SSD adapter.

Also improved is the utility / front panel located on top of the chassis with that original SATA HDD/SSD dock sitting there as well, just slide in the HDD and you can exchange data. CM calls that an X-Dock.

The chassis will ship with three fans installed and room for seven more. Categorized as a mid tower chassis, the CM 690 II can house up-to three graphics cards. The internals show enough space for supporting up to 2 radiators for water cooling units. Needless to say, this chassis will have no problem fitting in larger CPU coolers.

So what are the main differences you might wonder?

  • Support for two USB 3.0 ports (internal)
  • Bigger front top mesh design for ventilation
  • Space for a 120 x 240 mm radiator at both top and bottom
  • Dust filter for each mesh
  • Max 10 fans or 5x 140mm fans
  • External SATA docking station (X-dock)
  • Rear tubing holes for liquid cooling
  • Included 1,8'' & 2,5'' HDD and SSD brackets
  • Additional rubber grommets with improved cable management
  • Larger CPU mounting hole

As mentioned already, the CM 690 II Advanced includes an external HDD dock, meaning you can now access files from a drive without an external enclosure or the need to open up the case. In addition, to keep your system future-proof, it also comes with a 1.8/2.5 drive cage for smaller SSD drives.
