Day 3 Continued

The last exhibitor I visited was Spire PC Coolers (http://www.spirecoolers.com).  They were on hand solely due to Coolermaster and Thermaltake making an appearance.  They had their full line of heatsinks, fans, and some miscellaneous accessories on hand.  They are just starting out here in the US market, and have been around in Europe for quite some time.

Odds and ends

Aside from the exhibits, there was a fastest Tech Team competition.  What is it? Well, a team of 2 people has to screw in a DVD drive and Hard disk drive to a drive cage, screw that in to the case, put the wires and cables, and boot it up.  Teams will be penalized for using the wrong screws, and or loosing them.  The prize, 2 Velocity Raptor Special Edition systems, courtesy of Velocity Micro prized at around $2000.00 each. (http://www.velocitymicro.com).   The one heat I saw, the fastest team booted up in about 6 minutes.  I am not sure who won as I was busy roaming around. The contests were hosted by former Tech TV Fresh Gear host Jim Lauderback, who I spoke to briefly. He is currently with PC Magazine. Oracle also had a few of their online networking students on hand to show off their networking skills (these young high school kids are all CCNA Certified), and they all learned via the internet from Oracles program.
