CeBIT America 2003 (June 18-20th)

Author: Jean-Paul de Guzman [GTa86]

(They misspelled my last name on my badge, it showed ‘de Gumzan’, instead of ‘de Guzman’, don’t you just love technology)

For the first time, CeBIT graces the north-American shores, and gives this side of the world what Hanover and other places have been getting.  But unlike CeBIT Germany, CeBIT America focused on the professional aspects, rather than the end-user.  The majority of exhibitors were IT/Enterprise oriented, and only handfuls in attendance were for the consumer level. Not to be seen were video card (with the exception of Matrox) manufacturers and mother board manufacturers, as well as Intel and AMD.  While roaming the floors, I did catch a few exhibitors that cater to us, the Guru’s.  Amidst the sea of rack mount vendors, and other business oriented products, Thermaltake and Coolermaster trekked out to NY to showcase some of their new-ish, to new-er products.  I will go in-depth later on in the article on what they had to show.  Ahead software was also in attendance to showcase the next version of their popular burning program Nero.  (No it’s not version 5.9.9.9.8.78 or something, they actually went ahead and went beyond 5, its now 6). Grab a cold one, and read on and see the sights on the 3 days of CeBIT America.

Day 1: June 18

I have arrived

I finally got to the Javits Center at about half past 2 pm, and went in to visit my first exhibitor.  I decided to break down each day into each area, the left, right, and center.  This should give me extensive time to roam each section, and have a chat with a representative from each exhibitor.
