The Software; Power V-Ranger

So the software included is called V-Ranger (Voltage Range). There is PDF file included on how to use the software. I'll say it out loud without any hesitation: the software is a POS! It's so user-unfriendly. You constantly have to look how something operates and what exactly a button is doing. If you are into manga and 12 years old you'll probably like this but this is not the layout I want to see for software.

This is extremely Asia targeted software with weird colors, flashy things... so not Western style software. Hey we are the makers of Guru3D's RivaTuner, so agree with me that we know a thing or two about software okay ?

That doesn't mean that it doesn't work though. Once you go into advanced mode that dreadful looking software will indeed allow you to alter several things - fans RPM, the clocks, and indeed voltage levels.

Let's go though some of the software options, courtesy of BioStar.

Now if you are afraid of doing stuff yourself then opt for the (and do not laugh) "Fuzzy" option. Yes I have a program on my washing machine which is called that also. :)

After enabling it you'll see all kinds of weird stuff happening on your screen like rotating balls and goofy stuff. Meanwhile you'll notice that your core and memory clocks are slightly increasing. So at 700 MHz I decided to stop, as no GS can take that clock. And indeed I started up X3 got a massive lock and needed to restart the PC. Ohwkaaay! Ignore that Fuzzy option please, there's nothing Fuzzy or logic about it.

Biostar GeForce 7600 GS Overclocking Edition w/ V-Ranger review - Guru3D.com 2006

Well, the PDF at the very least was well written and very understandable. For those interested you have the following voltage range to play around with:

GPU 0.977 to 1.381 Volts.
MEM 1.728 to 2.131 Volts.

As you can see that's an extensive range to play around with. Let's see where we can take the 7600 GS to shall we.
