Beelink GTR6 (Ryzen 9 6900HX) mini PC review - Introduction

Beelink GTR6 Ultra Compact Mini PC
A decisive compact Form factor 8-core MiniPC based on Ryzen 9 6900HX

Beelink recently released something small but extremely powerful. The GTR6 has arrived. A low-power 8-core Ryzen 9 6900HX-based PC that can be tucked away anywhere. This compact mini PC comes with a 500GB NVMe SSD, 2.5 Gigabit/s Ethernet, WIFI6E, Bluetooth, USB3, HDMI DisplayPort, and 32GB Dual channel DDR5 DRAM.

The Beelink GTR6 is the zenith of high-end configuration into something really small. It is outfitted with a full-fledged AMD Radeon 9-6900HX processor with a TDP of 45W, an 8-core, 16-thread CPU structure, and a frequency of 4.9GHz. One of the features of this processor is the integrated 12-core Radeon 680M graphics unit, which is based primarily on the brand new RDNA2 structure and operates at a frequency of 2400MHz, outperforming even many other desktop and laptop computers IGPs.  In its two SODIMM slots, we spot 32 GB of DDR5 RAM running at 4800 MHz Dual Channel. You could swap that out and go for 64GB even. For storage, you'll stumble into a Kingston M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD 500 GB with a transfer rate of up to 7000 MB/s. We also have room for another M.2 SATA 2280 connector. Wireless connectivity has been bumped up towards high-end as well. Wifi 6E (1.2Gbps) + Bluetooth 5.2 and a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port are included. For port connectors, we have three USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, a 3.5 mm audio socket, a USB Type-C port, and four HDMI 2.1 outputs that allow for the display of four displays up to 8K resolution. The SoC, or better yet, APU empowering this unit, is a Ryzen 9 6900HX, a mobile 45W 8-core 16-threaded processor. The PC is equipped with an NVMe SSD (512GB), and 2x 16GB of LPDDR5 rated at 4800 MHz. There's even a place to install another NVMe SSD. With idle power consumption at close to 10 Watts, this unit is just so much fun; you will be surprised to see what this product offers in terms of overall performance.

Interesting to spot also is a fingerprint reader for simple Windows unlocking. End users interested in this product should be located in the low-level gaming, SOHO, Net PC, or HTPC markets. The HX90G's small size allows it to fit anywhere, and it comes pre-installed with Windows 11 Pro; it is plenty fast enough for online browsing and office apps like Word and Excel. Simple workloads using Abobe are not a problem either. In addition, you can easily conceal this item behind your monitor or HDTV. Keeping this in mind, this could easily be a solution that accelerates and post-processes high-definition movies and music; ideally, the content would be broadcast over a network. That is where net-tops and mini-tops come in. I wouldn't say I like working on a laptop while travelling; bringing this along and connecting it by HDMI to a TV in the hotel room works fine; add a keyboard and mouse, and you are good to go. We can indeed conceive of numerous application situations.
