And check that out, 1x30A and 1x36 Amps on the two +12V rails allowing just over 670W of power draw for graphics alone. This 700W PSU could power two GeForce GTX 980 cards or Radeon HD 390X cards. Considering a high-end graphics card eats roughly 15 Amps per card and 20 at best, the math here is simple.

All of the power supplies in this Series have the necessary protection functions, even in extreme conditions. Below is a list of the included protections:

  • OCP: Over Current Protection. This function will latch the power supply off if any given rail is overloaded beyond a safe level.
  • OVP: Over Voltage Protection. This function will latch the power supply off if voltages exceed specification.
  • UVP: Under Voltage Protection. This function will latch the power supply off if voltages drop below specification.
  • SCP: Short Circuit Protection. This function will latch the power supply off in the event of a short.
  • OTP: Over Temperature Protection. In the event that temperatures exceed a specified value, the power supply will latch off.
  • OPP: Over Power Protection. If the total output power of the power supply exceeds a safe level, the power supply will latch off.

The PP9 power supplies have a modular cable set that allows you to use only the cables you need for your particular set of components. When it comes to wiring we feel that there are enough connectors for the 700W PSU model we tested. Have a look at the supplied connectors, all with decent length by the way. The benefits of this dark design are a cleaner, neater look. The cables are also long enough to support full-tower cases.

The ATX motherboard connector cable is 55 cm, the Molex and SATA power cables up-to 80 cm, the 4/8-pin CPU ATX power connector cable is at a great length of roughly 60 cm and the PCIe graphics connectors reach up-to 65 cm as well. You will receive two sets of PCI-Express graphics power connectors, in total four 6+2 pin connectors. So even if your graphics cards are energy efficient enough, we'd recommend you to stick towards 2-way SLI or Crossfire as maximum in a non-overclocked state.
