The Verdict

We are still having trouble wrapping our head around the total price for the sound quality we have heard through this system. This system drips with build quality and its overall sound signature is usually found in system costing much more. We finally understand why AV123 was as enthusiastic about this product as the company has a lot to be proud of.

In our tested music we heard nuances that were never there prior to using this system and music would draw you in and get your head bopping before you knew it. Excellent clarity, separation, accuracy, balanced response and soundstage are all hallmarks of this system.

Every audio task and test, we were met with full rich sound quality with a big wide soundstage and bass usually found in larger tower speakers. Although we auditioned a 2.0 system, this system could be the first building block of a 5.1 system by adding a powered subwoofer and adding another amplifier or two to power rear channels and a center. Possibly in the future we will try out a full surround system using this system as the base components.

Considering the MSRP and sheer sound quality, we had difficulty finding any issues or negative aspects with the system. However, the ELT 's are very deep monitors and this is another reason they have such bass but they can be difficult to place on a smaller PC desk. You would need a certain amount of clearance to allow to rear firing port to operate as intended. Other then this, we really have no complaint; you get exceptional sound and impressive build quality.

The Gizmo offers great sound for its price and is deceptively powerful for its small size. We would prefer a remote control but on a PC the amplifier is usually set to a fixed level and volume adjusted through software.

We are really just splitting hairs as for every addition in features is also reflected in the price. This system has been well thought out and is a formidable listening system for the price. You have a quality amplifier, quality cables and quality speakers producing an overall high quality sound for stereo audition and we would say this is a case where the whole is greater then just the sum of its parts.

Finally, considering the sound quality, build quality fit and finish and overall power of the system compared to the price; we are awarding this system our Editors top pick award and it will become part of our reference collection until surpassed by new products we review. We will be keeping a close eye on this company to see what other audio tools they have for the PC audio fans around here.

Many PC audio lovers have their system connected to high quality home theater systems or high grade Bookshelf speakers for stereo audition. It would seem that more and more PC users are moving up the audio ladder to these high end systems. AV123 sent us a complete stereo monitoring system comprised of their ELT 525 Mini-Monitors in a Cherry Finish, a Class-D speaker amplifier from Tweak City Audio and last but not least some Matrix-2 speaker cables from Ultra Link to tie the system together.
