The Rightmark 3Dsound application performs testing on the hardware based on generic gaming routines.  These results can vary somewhat from system to system but should give an accurate idea of how the hardware will perform in relation to other cards in the testing set.

We decided to compare the Bravura 7.1 against a software based Xonar DX 7.1 and the current 3Ds champion according to our testing, the Auzentech HTHD 7.1.  The Bravura seems faster than the DX but not quite as fast as our hardware gaming card.  The Bravura 7.1 is limited to only 64 hardware buffers for Direst Sound 2D.

Here we can see a similar result with the Bravura still taking the lead compared to the Xonar DX but still being surpassed by the hardware 20K2 DSP processor.  The Bravura 7.1 is limited to 63 buffers for Direct sound 3D.

Similar results for the 3D and EAX testing but the numbers on the Bravura are starting to climb somewhat.  The Bravura is limited to 63 buffers for Directsound3D and EAX routines but we would suspect that the result would start to climb quite a bit the more buffers the game required.

We found it interesting and a bit unexpected that the Bravura surpassed another card based on software by such a margin performing the same gaming routines.  If we had to guess we would say it is driver optimization and of course the EAX routines are Creatives coding so you decide.  The hardware cards still surpassed the software based Bravura which is really no surprise at all.
