Taking the unit out of the packaging, we can see a very simple and no-fuss interface.

The 1104T uses ASUTOR’s traditional simple design; the front side is made of plastic. It’s not necessarily the most original, but given the purpose of a NAS - outright storage - it’s not a bad thing either. There’s a rose gold logo on the top right.  The outer casing is metal with a metal frame on the inside, making this a very sturdy product.

There are four LEDs on the front left-hand of the AS1104T. There are power, system, and LAN connectivity lights; there’s also disk activity LED. At the lower-left corner, you can see a USB 3.2 Gen1 port. When the unit is powered on, any installed HDDs/SSDs will turn solid green, which indicates the drives are ready for use. Powering up the unit took about 30 s from pressing the button to all the lights going green.

Turning the unit around, we see mainly the 120 mm fan vent. On the rear IO, you can see the power, LAN, and USB 3.2 Gen1 slots. Over a single 2.5 Gigabit jack, this unit is capable of read speeds of 250~300 MB/s.

After flipping the unit upside down, you’ll find four rubber feet that help make it quieter (applicable to HDDs, not SSDs).
