Maximus VIII Formula is an ATX gaming motherboard equipped with an LGA1151 socket for the latest 6th-generation Intel Core processor and DDR4 memory. You'll count 10 CPU phases in the above photo.

The board has one 8-pin power header for the CPU, with 10-power phases available for the processor that's plenty really. I am glad that we are leaving the gazillion phases trend behind us really.

The board is compatible with NVM Express (NVMe) U.2 and M.2 for up to 32Gbps transfers, USB 3.1 Type-A and reversible Type-C for speed and compatibility. There's plenty of SATA ports and all the way to the left you can see that freak connector called U2. Much like serial express .. a bit of a loss connectors wise. As SATA3 and M2 is the trend.

The M2 slot is hidden behind a cover, you need to screw off part of the shield, and then can mount the M2 SSD. That kinda suck if you want that dandy 950 pro on display, but rocks if you use a green PCB colored M2 of course.

Good news on the WIFI front, 2×2 802.11ac Wi-Fi is available with multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) wireless connections. This will get you going to a theoretical 866 Mbps connection over WIFI with a compatible WIFI router.
