In short every I/O basically has settings that are separate from the other I/O and if you are well versed in soundcards you know this is quite unique as typically you set a master clock on a card and that is that.

ASUS Xonar Phoebus

ASUS Xonar Phoebus

Let’s go over some of the features:

  • Individual volume controls, can be locked together or unlocked for balancing your signal levels
  • Environmental Effects can be set individual for speakers and headphones and S/Pdif!
  • Driver remembers the last page you were on which can be accessed by simple click.

So most common page can be selected through context menu and set for quick view.

  • Recording also allows separate bit rates aside from the Playback sampling rate.
  • The external Line input accepts 176.4 and 88.2 KHz in addition to the standard 44.1 to 192 KHz
  • The internal AUX input and microphone input offer all standard bit depths and sampling frequencies of 44.1-192 KHz. For those gamers that use a mic, the driver offers beam forming and effects for your voice.
  • The microphone input allows variable boost fader for user tuning.

Dolby Home Theater V.4

In addition to the standard Dolby Digital Live encoder present on most Xonar cards the Phoebus offers the new Dolby Home Theater V.4.  You have s preset for Movies, Music and Gaming along with 6 user definable presets.  Without getting into to much detail on the technologies offered from Dolby, the new DSP coding offers:

  • Intelligent Equalizer with 6 preset
  • +12db to -12db 10 Band Graphic Equalizer
  • Volume Leveler
  • Dialogue Enhancer
  • Surround Virtualizer for Speakers and headphones.
