ASUS Xonar Essence STX Review

Here is another audio opamps that some may recommend and has been around a long time.  This opamp seemed to add more clarity and brightness at the expense of musicality or liveliness This opamps produced great bass and mids but the clarity was almost too much.  I suggest this opamps for those with bass heavy headphones or speakers that are looking for a brighter type of sound.

OPA2227

These produced a similar sound on this card to the 2134s making the sound more laidback and easy.  The 2227 have a nice articulate bass range and the bass and midrange are more forward in the image and more pronounced.  Somewhat darker overall image is presented.

Note on opamps impressions.  These are sonic impressions I hear on my gear with this card and my testing headphones and speakers.

Your impressions will undoubtedly change and vary.  If you are interested in modifying this card then I suggest learning about the subject and ask others for their suggestions on the topic.  Try out opamp units you like and if you like them with your gear, use them. The process and auditioning the card after you find a good unit is the fun part.  That Wow factor when you know you have a good combination.
