ASUS X58 TUF Sabertooth

Right, there we have the ASUS TUF SaberTooth X58 . That's a smoking hot looking motherboard alright. The focus on this motherboard is military rugged, sturdy looking design whilst remaining competitive with pricing.

We dig the three tone (black/military green / beige blue) design a lot, dark colored PCBs are the trend these days. What immediately catches is the ceramic coating heatsinks sitting on top of the PCH.  Look at that.

ASUS X58 TUF Sabertooth

We received the final retail sample and as such it comes packed with a 'decent' product bundle, its a little scarce on the extra's though. Among the gear inside the kit you'll find the following:

  • X58 Motherboard
  • Driver/Utility CD
  • SATA cables
  • SATA 6G cable
  • SLI Bridge
    Back IO shield
  • Manual
  • frontpanel pins

That's it really, keep in mind that ASUS tried hard to keep this motherboard affordable. The extras, you need to seek in the overall design and components usage, which is top notch.

So here we have the motherboard itself, it's an impressive and daunting looking motherboard alright. Some of the more notable features are its design, 3 PCIe x16 (mechanical) slots, out of which 2 can run full speed x16 SLI, The 3rd one can be used for say a PhysX card and runs x4 PCIe lanes. The mobo has DDR3 1866 MHz support straight out of the BIOS, USB 3.0 and SATA 6G. We'll cover it all though, let's begin with the IO panel.
