So yeah, all of the SATA ports support 6GBps capability, there's no need to creep and fiddling around to make sure you have the right ports for that shiny new Solid State Drive. Additionally, for those people who want the ultimate gaming performance, the motherboard supports SLI and CrossfireX configurations.

Here are the SATA ports -- ASUS is equipping the board with eight SATA ports. Six of them come from the Intel PCH and two of them are provided by ASMedia 1061 controller (2 extra as eSATA on the rear IO bracket). For SSDs stick to the Intel controller please which is a good chunk faster, these would be the nasty brown colored connectors. The updated beige brown color schema is great news for Noctua cooler owners though.

Here you can see the three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (x16/NC/NC or x8/x8/NC or x8/x4/x4); three PCI-Express x1 slots. You need to stuck to a maximum of two graphics cards in multi-GPU configuration really. You could use a the black third slot for a PhysX cards though.

The Sabertooth Z87 is a regular sized ATX. Asus also delivers dust plugs, tweaked the position of the circuit board's ventilation holes, and added adjustable ducting around the CPU socket which we'll show on the next page.
