The Monitor

The ASUS ROG Swift PG348Q monitor can be found under SKU product code PG348Q. The monitor belongs to the manufacturer’s ROG (Republic Of Gamers) brand and offers a bit more bite in terms of features and aesthetics. Let me first state that the model we received is a final retail sample.
 

The new PG348Q offers a rather nice 34" display and support for Nvidia's G-SYNC initiative. It’s a QHD 1440p screen stretched over 34 inches of ultra wide. With a compatible video card you can take advantage of 100hz G-SYNC or ULMB blur reduction technology. This monitor has a fantastic IPS panel in terms of image quality. Thanks to the 178-degree viewing angle of the In-Plane Switching (IPS) display which recreates colors across over 99 percent of the sRGB color space, there is little color distortion at any viewing angle.

A quick note; if you're thinking of purchasing a G-SYNC monitor then make sure your Nvidia GeForce graphics card is compatible, basically anything newer than the Geforce 600 series will support these dynamic refresh rates during gaming. At a massive resolution of 3440x1440 pixels we do assume you've got the proper gear and graphics card to match already. The monitor arrives in a large, full colour box. Included are the power adapter, cables (HDMI/DP) and a manual.
 

The monitor has a 3440 x 1440 resolution (21:9 aspect ratio), 1000:1 static contrast ratio and 178/178° horizontal/vertical viewing angles. The WLED backlight is flicker-free and offers a generous sRGB colour gamut coverage. Our tests revealed it to be 100% accurate. Colour support is 8-bits per subpixel plus FRC dithering (10-bits total). A 5ms GTG (grey to grey) response time is specced. 
 

So, an IPS screen might not be your favorite type of panel for its slower speed compared to TN, but it is the better looking display in terms of screen blacks. One nice advantage is that the 60 Hz monitor is up-to 100 Hz capable / overclockable. Here we attached the stand. The stand is adjustable in the sense it can tilt and has height and swivel adjustment. 

Built with ABS plastic, the characteristic ASUS gaming identity with that trendy ROG foot adorns this monitor. The PG348Q uses an intricate design that clearly appeals to the target audience - you guys, the gamers. The bezel is nice and, well, let's call it reasonably thin. The monitor includes HDMI and DisplayPort connectors as well as a USB 3.0 HUB, which unfortunately is hard to reach. ASUS included a cover as well, so routing and hiding cables works pretty good. Built into the monitor are two small speakers with the same poor audio quality that any monitor offers really.
