The Monitor

We received this monitor a week or so ago. You can spot them in retail at 699 EUR/USD which is a plentiful amount of money for something being Full HD. Well, let's unbox.

The PG259QN  series offers 25.57" curved display and is among the first of its kind to feature support for G-SYNC Ultimate refresh rate technology in combination with 360 Hz refresh rates. The IPS panel used originates from AU Optronics and is WLED based, and of course the latest iteration of the physical G-sync module from Nvidia.

  • 25.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) with 360 Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time for super-smooth gaming visuals.
  • G-SYNC ULTIMATE features the latest NVIDIA G-SYNC processors to deliver the best HDR gaming experience.

Despite this product refreshing this fast and having that GSYNC module, there's no active cooling. This round the monitor does not make any sound, which we've seen in the past.

Unpacking reveals lots of foam and the basics that you'll get bundled, let's have a peek.

The monitor arrives in a large, full-color box. Included are cables (HDMI/DP/USB) and a manual and your power brick, which does is external. So, an IPS-based panel (AVHA) screen, which not even be the favorite type of panel for some, others love it. However, one cannot deny the fact that this one is capable of 360 Hz and 400 nits, and has an active G-Sync module from NVIDIA.

The monitor has an acclaimed touting a 1ms grey-to-grey response time. Built with ABS plastic, the characteristic identity that ASUS offers means a trendy foot adorns this monitor. The display makes use of an RoG design and a feel that clearly appeals to the target audience, PC gamers. There is a fairly large and thick plastic bezel though. The monitor includes HDMI 2.0 and a DisplayPort 1.4 connector as well as a USB 3.0 hub.

Here the backside and foot, which is fantastically looking. Extremely handy and it brings very minimalistic looks to the monitor. The monitor can be adjusted to different positions, that is a refined monitor arm that can easily move the screen without moving the foot. The screen is very easy to position in the ideal position. It has something hidden in there though. The ginormous RoG logo at the back side incorporates RGB lighting. It is, however, positioned backwards, so you will not notice much, if anything, at all of it yourself. You can control the RGB animation stuff with ASUS AURA Sync software if you feel you must.
