The metal cover on the primary x16 PCI-Express slot should offer some sturdier and stronger slots, handy for usage with massive heavy graphics cards.
There is quite some attention to detail in the CPU area. A 8 phase Digi+ power delivery in a 6+2 configuration is managing power delivery, with the CPU is being fed by one 8-pin power connector. The MOSFETs are cooled with a proper VRM heatsink. Again, for a budget series B450 motherboard that is very nice to see. Overall a nice looking board following the ATX form factor. Today we pair it with a 3200MHz memory kit from G.Skill who offers Flare-X memory.
The audio chip used is Realtek ALC1220 offers 7.1-channel High Definition audio, ASUS has rebranded it as SupremeFX, but the absis is that ALC1220 which has been enhanced with a few higher grade capacitors. It is a 7.1 CODEC, but ASUS as well did run out of space, just three analog outputs are available. Of course, anything Digital can run pass-through HDMI or DP of your graphics card.
The ROG Strix B450-I makes use of Intel I211-AT for its Gigabit LAN port, to the right of it you can see on the built-in 802.11ac MIMO 2T2R capable Wi-Fi module with Bluetooth 4.2 support.
