So let us look at the product and packaging first of course. Available in black and white variants, the ASUS ROG Rapture GT6 is sold in packages of two units or as a single router. We received the black and white model for testing, which came in a large cardboard box showcasing a picture of the units that make up this mesh Wi-Fi system, the product name, and a list of its most essential features.

We have a black standalone unit, and ASUS also submitted two white editions, a 2-pack. Upon opening the box, we found the two units nicely packaged next to each other, along with a leaflet containing troubleshooting tips for devices that may not work optimally with the Wi-Fi 6 standard. The package also included power adapters, a CAT5e network cable, a quick setup guide, details about the warranty, and safety information. The European version of the ROG Rapture GT6 bundles two power plugs: the standard EU and UK versions, ensuring compatibility with different power outlets across Europe. Overall, the unboxing experience for the ASUS ROG Rapture GT6 mesh Wi-Fi system was satisfying, offering all the necessary items and information for a reasonably hassle-free setup.

The Asus ROG Rapture GT6 is a tri-band router that operates on a 2.4GHz channel and two 5GHz channels. The second 5GHz channel serves as a wireless backhaul to enhance wireless performance. However, this channel can be used for clients if needed, which is beneficial if connecting the two units through a wired LAN. The ROG logo features a dot-matrix display that can be customized to your favourite colour or lighting effect. The LEDs can be turned off if you find them too disruptive.

The ASUS ROG Rapture GT6 mesh Wi-Fi system features nine antennas, four visible through transparent plastic covers. The system also boasts efficient ventilation grids that help to keep the hardware inside cool. This mesh Wi-Fi system transmits on three bands: a 2.4 GHz band with a maximum theoretical bandwidth of 574 Mbps and two 5 GHz bands, each with a maximum theoretical bandwidth of 4804 Mbps. The system also provides 2x2 MU-MIMO wireless transmissions on the 2.4 GHz band and 4x4 MU-MIMO transmissions on the two 5 GHz bands. WPA3 password encryption and 160 MHz channels on the 5 GHz bands are available but must be configured during configuration.

Each ASUS ROG Rapture GT6 has a tri-core Broadcom BCM6753 chip running at 1.5GHz, 512MB of RAM, and 256MB of firmware storage. While not as powerful as some other ASUS gaming routers, this hardware is more than enough to handle multiple, and many devices connected simultaneously. On the back of each unit, users will find a 2.5 Gbps WAN port, three 1 Gbps LAN ports, and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port. A prioritised gaming port is also among the LAN ports, and LAN aggregation is available if needed.
