Final Words & Conclusion

ASUS offers a compelling product series with the ASUS Rapture GT6 series.  The Asus ROG Rapture GT6 can be an optional Wi-Fi system, as users can obtain an Asus standalone gaming router and incorporate it into a mesh by adding additional units. However, compared to its ZenWifi counterpart, including the XT12, this new hardware offers a convenient solution that provides both Wi-Fi performance and gaming features in one comprehensive package. MESH set-up remains a little icky as you need a certain knowledge level of configuring networks.

Routers and mesh units operate non-stop throughout the year, making it crucial to be aware of their yearly expenses. If your electricity rate is 40 cents per kilowatt-hour, a single unit will amount to approximately 35 euros or US dollars annually. When adding more mesh units, the overall cost can be calculated by multiplying the base figure. For instance, incorporating three devices would result in a yearly expense of $105. Therefore, it is important to consider the long-term financial implications before investing in additional mesh units.

Performance

Unfortunately, the performance achieved on the 2400 MHz band is average. Despite our best efforts, it is unclear what factors contributed to the underwhelming result, although we observed some packet loss instances. In contrast, the 5 GHz band demonstrated exceptional functionality, with a remarkable throughput of 900 Mbps. In addition, the secondary backhaul band delivers an impressive performance of 750 Mbps. Combined as a mesh, you can create a truly powerful coverage of your WIFI.

Concluding

The ASUS ROG Rapture GT6 offers honourableWIFI throughput performance and also delivers good performance with 1Gbps and 2.5Gbps Ethernet connections. It also has a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port that can be used for NAS-like functionality. If you are looking for a network system that supports gaming prioritization, the ASUS ROG Rapture GT6 is definitely worth considering. The router's design is quite impressive, inspired by the aesthetic of the Republic of Gamers brand and featuring unique hexagonal patterns. The ROG logo, tagline "For Those Who Dare" and "WiFi 6 Gaming Mesh Router" are prominently printed on each unit. Gamers will also appreciate the RGB lighting on the ASUS ROG Rapture GT6, which can be personalized via the web admin interface or the ASUS mobile app. I noticed that some other media had problems with it, but I did not experience any backhaul stability issues, and I was able to connect all my devices to the Wi-Fi network without any problems, enjoying good signal strength and decent speed. New firmware updates seem to have addressed the issues at hand.  The Rapture GT6 is powerful, with a 1.7GHz tri-core processor that allows for fast speeds and stable connectivity. The 2.5G connection and real-time AiProtection Pro provide additional security features that will give gamers peace of mind when playing online. The device is also equipped with WiFi 6 tri-band connections, with both 5GHz bands offering 4x4 connections and 160MHz bandwidth. The 9 internal antennas ensure excellent WiFi efficiency and ultra-wide coverage of up to 5800 square feet / 530 m2 thanks to the AiMesh WiFi system.

From an objective point of view, the Asus ROG Rapture GT6 stands out as one of the most powerful tri-band WiFi 6 gaming mesh systems currently available on the market, offering exceptional 5 GHz band coverage, speed and damn good looks. However, with a price tag of over $500 for a two-unit kit or $300 for a single unit, many were hoping for the addition of a WIFI6E-6GHz compatibility in this lineup. Nevertheless, the GT6 remains an impressive choice for gamers and tech enthusiasts.
