Product Showcase

So let us have a closer look at the product, packaging first of course.

The ASUS GT-AC2900 comes in a colorful red/black package. Next, to the router, you'll find an Ethernet cable, power adapter, a manual, instruction CD and three antennas.

Everything is packaged nicely and extensively, hardly any chance of damage during transport and unboxing it is quite an experience all by itself. Above, you can see an overview of the hardware included. The router has been equipped with a dual-core BCM 4906 1.8 GHz processor, 256 MB flash storage and 512 MB of RAM memory as well as USB 3.1 ports (Gen1, thus 5 Gbps). The unit is equipped with three adjustable and removable antennas. The separate antennas are located on the outside of the router, above is a picture with the antennas you need to mount.

You can direct the antennas at any angle, to squeeze out that last bit of performance in an upper floor corner. You'll notice a stand you need to mount onto the router, after which you can opt to place it horizontally, or much preferred vertically as shown below.

Here we have the unit with antennas installed. At the lower left the ROG logo, RGB lit. If you have the router in vicinity and like that RGB, hey okay. Otherwise, we recommend you disable RGB it as routers are active 24/7 and, as such, the three (RGB) LEDs do consume power. A few LEDs easily eat a constant 5 to 10 Watts.
