Let's be honest here, that is a brilliant looking piece of hardware right there. Especially once it lights up, the RGB setup really finishes the looks.

The chipset heatsink as well is RGB lit, distinctive for a ROG design is the ROG logo of course. See the PCIe connectors? The rear sides have RGB LEDs as well. You can mount an M.2 SSD under the heatsink btw.

Here you can see that you pretty much remove three screws, install the M.2 unit and mount it again. It is a great solution as it cools down the M.2 SSD, preventing it from heating up and throttling down in performance.

Yes, and then there is the vertically mounted SSD. In the package, you'll receive a mounting strut as well, so it's secured pretty well. But as I have stated many times, that's NOT how you want to mount an expensive NVMe M.2 SSD. ASUS should drop that design and kill it off, effective immediately.

  • 1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black) *1
  • 3 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x1

* The PCIe x4_3 slot shares bandwidth with PCIe x1_3. The PCIe x4_3 is default set at x2 mode.
*2 When the M.2_1 Socket 3 is operating in SATA mode, SATA port 1 will be disabled.
*3 When the M.2_2 Socket 3 is operating in PCIe 3.0 x4 mode, SATA ports 5 and 6 will be disabled.
