The Rampage IV Black edition is what I consider to be amongst the most high-end grade and upper class products sitting in the Enthusiast level of hardware. The board is aimed and paired with Ivy Bridge-E class processors and part of the ASUS Republic of Gamers brand, the Rampage IV Black edition is targeted for users who like to build a gaming system and then tweak the living daylight out of it

When we take a closer look at the rear I/O back panel it reveals four USB 2.0 ports with another six USB 3.0 ports. The motherboard features four 16x PCI-E 3.0 slots (Max two at x8, three 8x, one 4x) and then has two mini PCI-E x1 slots. The board has been designed based on the Extreme Engine Digi+ III and it entails an 8 -phase CPU power design - 3 -phase VCCSA power design - 2 + 2 phase DRAM power design - NexFET Power Block MOSFET - 60A Chokes - 10K Black Metallic Capacitors.

A Realtek ALC1150 high definition audio codec is the source for audio which then receives a SupremeFX software suite with a 120dB signal-to-noise ratio with integrated 600ohm-headphone amplifier. We spot fast Ethernet (Intel 82579V) with a Gigabit jack and also really cool WIFI, a built in Wi-Fi GO! module is present, offering Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth v4.0/3.0+HS. There is a PS/2 combo port that can be used for either a keyboard or a mouse. You'll see one optical SPDIF in/out port and six audio jacks. Then there's a clear BIOS switch button can be spotted and a ROG connect switch.

The motherboard is following the previous design schema of the Rampage IV series fairly closely but it is an entirely new design though. The X79 based Rampage is pricy though, the cheapest price we could find here in the Netherlands was 380 EUR. If you look at the CPU area heatsinks, you'll noticed that they have changed in terms of shape. You'll immediately recognize the distinct black scheme across the board. Overall an excellent looking board design!
