ASUS delivered retail packaging with this STRIX Vega 64, inside it the graphias card, manual, driver CD and well the usuals. But let's focus on the real thing, the card itself.

Alright, so there she is; the ASUS RX Vega 64 STRIX, we received an (obvious) 8 GB version with the triple fan / RGB lit design cooler. Vega 64 is been designed to be a nice match for gaming up-to 1080P, 1440P and even Ultra HD at 3840x2160 pixels. In our findings the card is a good notch faster compared to the Radeon RX 580 and Fury series and battling with the GeForce GTX 1080, at 499 USD with 8GB that's not a bad position to be in. Obviously there's more to check out other than performance, we'll have a peek at PCB heat levels, GPU temperatures, as well as noise levels.

The RX Vega 64 STRIX comes armed with 8 GB HBM2 graphics memory which will be clocked at 945 MHz / 2048-bit to give you a little more leash with the higher resolutions and image quality settings. The reference clocked product will run with clock frequencies up-to 1247 MHz on its 4096 shader processors with a 1546 MHz available boost. However there's more to it, if you do not hit too many limiters like power, temps, voltages, load etc, the card can run just over the 1.6 GHz frequency. ASUS has specced the card at 1298 for the base and 1590 MHz for the boost frequency.

It has two PCIe PEG power connector (8-pin) connectors. This Vega 64 based product has been designed to be a match for at least the most popular Wide Quad HD resolutions. Actually, it places a strong focus on 1440P gaming. The board includes two HDMI (2.0b) and two DisplayPort 1.4 (HDR ready) connectors, included as well is a DVI connector which I am happy to see has been fitted.
