Final Words & Conclusion

The Verdict

We've already told you in our reference review that the Radeon HD 5770 offers pretty decent value for money. The baseline product could however use a little extra performance in our honest opinion. The ASUS V-Tweak edition definitely brings along that extra performance, but sure .. you do need to overclock yourself. It would have been nice to see the product pre-overclocked at say 960c/5400m. As stated we have been able to run this graphics card at a full GHz on the core and over 5600 MHz on it's memory -- as a result we instantly get a 15 % performance increase in GPU bound resolutions. It's the little extra bite that I would have liked to see on the reference product, as such we like this product very much.

So as you can see, GPU Voltage tweaking is a proven concept, it really does work. Don't be afraid to play around with it, but know your boundaries. Realistically speaking 1.3 Volts with the reference cooler is the maximum we can and must recommend.

Voltage tweaking aside, the 5770 is a very capable, mature and feature rich DX11 class graphics card -- we do think though that pricing will need to drop under 150 USD for it to become really popular. With the Radeon series 5770 products ATI brought a feature rich product to the market that offers plenty of performance for current and modern games. It has good cooling and offers less noise compared to a 4850 -- and with the Voltage Tweak edition ASUS brings in that little extra we so much like to see.guru3d-recommended_150px.jpg

Bottom line: ASUS offers the V-Tweak edition at pretty much the regular price which would be roughly 169 USD and comes with a three year warranty. So if you want a little extra tender love and care from ASUS, the V-Tweak edition Radeon HD 5770 1024MB might just be what the doctor ordered -- if you are into overclocking of course. Definitely recommended.
