Above it we see Socket LGA 1156. ASUS makes use of an astounding 16-phase power system. The capacitors to the left I find to be positioned rather close to the socket. This might hinder the extreme cooling solutions out there. We spot solid capacitors and ferrite core chokes, that's nice.

Check it out,  two PCIe 2.0 x1 slots, two PCI slots, and three PCIe 2.0 x16 slots (x16/x4 or x8/x8/x4). The board is SLI and Crossfire compatible but as you can see the PCIe lanes divide up towards two x8.

Okay you guys and girls, that's it for this little preview of a P55 motherboard. This really as as much info as we are allowed to share. The P55 chipset itself falls under NDA, and of course Lynnfield processors (Core i5) are still pending a release and as such fall under embargo as well. Once that embargo will be lifted later this year, rest assured that we'll do our best to bring you fascinating coverage of this new technology, including a lot of tests and benchmarks.

We expect the pricing of this motherboard to hover at roughly 200 USD. We certainly hope you enjoyed this little sneak preview. The ASUS P7P55D Deluxe is looking to be a very sexy motherboard offering loads of features, has a sharp design and obviously was build with overclocking in mind.

With that said .. one last photo. We'd like to thank ASUS for supplying this motherboard prior to launch. And guys, all our previews have been showing the high-end P55 motherboards. But expect to see P55 boards starting at $120 and topping out around $239.
