ASUS 880G motherboard review

The M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 motherboard gets tested

Today, a review on a motherboard with the most nasty name to remember, let's test that shall we ? I'll say it once, then you go grab a cup of coffee, return and pronounce the name. Ready? Here we go - M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3

Now say it out loud 10 times repeated after each other real fast :) hehe ...

A complicated name doesn't mean the motherboard itself is complicated. Contrary, the mother we test today is a derivative of the AMD 800 series motherboard chipset, the 880G chipset. It is the 890GX series little sister that is armed with an affordable price, yet still offers the same performance at many levels. This 880G chipset comes with embedded GPU for your generic desktop usage and HTPC requirements. But AMD, in together with a sweet lovin ASUS two-some, upped the ante a tiny bit more due to the integration of SATA6G and USB 3.0.

The price of this motherboard is 100 EUR / USD yet comes with pretty much all the modern features you need and expect from a decent motherboard, and in fact even a little somtin'-somtin' extra is to be found on it.

The ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 is loaded with all the regular features like the fast chipset, grand connectivity, decent audio subsystem, integrated graphics, cool design, tweakable and then stuff like SATA 6G, USB 3.0, automated overclock options and even two (physical) PCIe x16 slots and even core unlock functionality from within the BIOS are features to be found at this 100 EUR motherboard.

The 890G chipset oozes with value, features and performance as at any level it will not disappoint, the six-core Phenom II X6 processor review, which you probably read, was overclocked towards 4.1 GHz on a just cheapo CPU air-cooler.

All in all, we have a lot of ground to cover in this review.  Move forward to the next page, where we'll head into the AMD 880G chipset and the ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 motherboard.

But first have an impression on how she looks ...

ASUS M4A89GTD USB 3 review
We merely released our first AMD890GX motherboard review a couple of days ago, and the new chipset is well received. But of course there are many more ODMs out there that have been preparing a new board based on the 890GX chipset from AMD. Today we'll have a look at an offering from ASUS, namely the M4A89GTD Pro USB3. A motherboard carrying that new SATA6G controller and sure ASUS dropped a USB 3.0 controller onto this model as well.
