I should also mention that 105dB at 1mW is quite efficient, which is to say the CineVibe can play EXTREMELY LOUDLY.

The CineVibe also feature:

  • Optimal Bass Vibration
  • Cozy Leather Earpad
  • Plug & Play Driver Free

Im always a bit dubious about vibration anything, simply because I think vibrators have a long history of being used for certain other entertainment purposes.  Maybe vibrators have just gotten bad wrap, maybe Asus is here to raise awareness for vibrators the world over, maybe it is to show that vibrators arent just purely for entertainment anymore!  Wait, these are gaming headphones!  Ah, never mind, then.

Some disassembly required.

The leather earpad cover is very soft and cushy indeed.  As a supra-aural design, that is they lay flat on your ears and not around them (circumaural), they are pretty cozy.  The box states that the earpads are made from a Japan-made [sic] protein that is breathable and antiseptic.  They seem pretty durable, and seem that they will last a couple years at least.

The headband is thin, but still very comfortable.

The headband is covered with a similar leather material, but not quite as soft and presumably less antiseptic.  However since it is quite thin, it does induce some pressure on the top of the head.  Overall, the comfort is good for this type of design.

The CineVibe is also a USB headset, which means it is a headphone, microphone, and sound card all in one.  All the components, volume, mute, audio card, and USB controller are built in to the in-line pod.  Your humble correspondent was not able to pry open the included volume clicker, but the chipsets in these tend to be modest in terms of quality.  Id expect 16-bit, 48 KHz quality for the DAC, which is pretty standard in these kinds of chips, and about the same 16-bit, 48 KHz ADC for the microphone.  We'll learn more in the software section.

Sound Card, Volume, Mute, and USB Controller all in one inline pod.

Lastly, our review sample did not include the instruction booklet, driver disc, nor warranty card, but I assure you that yours will have them.
