So the VGA cooler we'll be testing the Accelero Xtreme 2900 mounted onto a Radeon 2900 XT. A lot of people bought this card when it was released and just like me had to deal with the tremendous noise levels and heat. Anyway, let's have a look at the product, the installation and then the stress-test & sound check afterwards.

Right then, packaging. You'll immediately notice the big size of the cooler with it's 3 fans, it's a Goliath, man ..

In the box you'll find the cooler with it's 3 fans, backplate, screws, thermal pads, voltage regulator heatsink and a manual.

Also included, a aluminum backplate cushioned with small rubber pads.

Here we see the cooling unit a bit better, it weighs roughly half a kilogram. The three 80mm fans rotate up-to 2000 RPM depending on voltage regulation.

  • 3 x 80mm PWM Fans
  • 5 Heatpipes Penetrate 107 Fins
  • Optimized Air Flow
  • Patented Fan Holder Eliminates the Humming Noise
  • Low Noise Impellor
  • Integrated Memory Cooling
  • Voltage Regulators Cooling
  • Pre-applied MX-2

At default they'll be very quiet, more on that in our tests though.

Arctic A35/I35 A-RGB air coolers review
Arctic (a german manufacturer) these days is mainly recognizable from their Liquid Freezer II, which we reviewed as a 280 non-RGB version, 240 ARGB, and 360 ARGB. Still, today, we are examining two air coolers from the Arctic: an A35/I35 A-RGB. Why two in one review? That’s mainly because each is dedicated to the CPU from a different producer. A35 is aimed at the AM5/AM4 platform, and the i35 is for Intel’s 1700, 1200, 1155, 1151, and 1150 sockets.

Arctic Accelero Xtreme 2900 VGA cooler review
The Accelero Xtreme features with 5 heatpipes, 107 fins and 3 power managed fans. The design has been improved for optimized air flow design obviously to cool effectively, which according to Arctic is up to 240 Watt heat dissipation; that's quite a lot. They claim to can dramatically bring down the heat from GPU at least 20ºC lower than the stock cooler. Well .. let's slap a Radeon 2900 XT on it and see how well it does the job then.
